A New Beginning Animal Rescue Receives $10,000 Petco Foundation Grant to Support Animal Welfare Efforts in Weber and Davis Counties, Utah.

Layton, Utah (02/17/2016) — A New Beginning Animal Rescue of Layton, Utah, today announced it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its rescue, nurture, and adoption initiative.

A New Beginning Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization that is volunteer-operated and embraces the no-kill philosophy, serving Weber and Davis Counties, Utah. Since 2008, A New Beginning Animal Rescue has rescued, nurtured, and helped more than 3,100 companion animals (kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs – and rabbits) find their forever homes, through its long-standing special partnership with Petco in holding adoption events every Saturday at Petco in Layton, Utah.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to provide lifesaving veterinary care, spay/neuter procedure, first set of vaccinations and daily nurture; promote pet adoption, and provide transformative public education opportunities on responsible pet ownership, importance of sterilization, and the humane treatment of animals. A portion of funds will be used to purchase new equipment, including an evaporative (swamp) cooler, for and needed basic repairs at the rescue’s Kitty Center in Bountiful, Utah.

“We are so grateful for our continued collaboration with the Petco Foundation. Their belief in our mission has allowed us to make positive changes in our communities,” said Gabriele Johnson, Founder and Executive Director. “Together, we are making progress in helping to improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect, and in contributing to a better society.  We are humbled for this generous support and excited to put these funds to good use. Thank you, Petco Foundation.”

About A New Beginning Animal Rescue

A New Beginning Animal Rescue is a nonprofit, no?kill animal rescue organization serving Davis and Weber Counties, Utah. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats, dogs, puppies, kittens, and rabbits who need of a new beginning and help prepare them for a forever home, through rescue, nurture, and adoption efforts. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering. We envision a future in which communities do not consider pets as disposable items and embrace their responsibilities as compassionate, responsible guardians and protectors to companion animals. Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; help change the "throwaway" mentality and improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; importance of pet sterilization, and the humane treatment of animals.

About the Petco Foundation

At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life.  Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $135 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. Working with thousands of animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First© program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 4.2 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
